The Michigan Player's Tour, like most developmental tours, will utilize membership fees to fund the overhead and marketing of the Tour. As the Tour matures and events begin to attract full fields, all players desiring to play will be required to purchase a membership to guarantee their spot in an event.
The membership policy will be placed into effect once the Tour is able to secure a tour title sponsor and / or several event sponsors. If sponsorship is secured during a season, the membership policy will go into effect at the beginning of the next season.
Benefits Of Membership
Once the membership policy is implemented, players can expect the following benefits of membership:
Members will be guaranteed spots in all events on the Tour schedule.
Members will receive a 25% discount in entry fees into all Tour events.
Members will receive discounted greens fees for practice rounds at tournament courses prior to events.
Members will receive complimentary range balls prior to tournament rounds.
Members will receive discounted room rates at resorts hosting Tour events.
Members will receive one complimentary golf shirt (of their choice of brand name), fully embroidered with the Michigan Player's Tour logo and other logos associated with the brand, plus the option to purchase additional shirts at cost.
Members will receive an embroidered Tour golf towel and a dozen golf balls (of their choice of brand name) with the Tour logo.
Procedure For Instituting Membership Policies
Once the membership policy is implemented at the beginning of a season, the Tour will begin accepting membership applications on a first come, first served basis. The Michigan Player’s Tour will extend membership privileges io a maximum of 144 professionals. All players seeking membership must meet the eligibility requirements as set forth in the Eligibility page. A player may secure his spot by placing a 50% deposit on the membership fee, with the balance due by the deadline of the first event the player enters.
Should the number of members reach 144 players at any time after the policy is implemented, the Tour will place all subsequent membership applications into a waiting list, with new members gaining status only when current members vacate their membership (for whatever reason). See Waiting List Policy below.
Players purchasing a membership will pay a membership fee based on the date they join the Tour. See the Membership Fee Schedule below for these rates.
Note -- In the early years of the Tour, PGA Section professionals and assistants will not be required to obtain a membership to compete, and will not be required to pay the 25% surcharge on entry fees. They will, however, be subject to the space-available limitation if they do not purchase a membership. As long as the number of members remains under 144, PGA Section professionals and assistants should be able to get into events. The Tour will post notice of any change to this policy once it becomes necessary to do so.
Memberships For Amateurs
As a professional developmental tour, the Michigan Player's Tour is seeking professional players as members. Since purse size is a function of the number of professionals playing in an event, the presence of amateurs in the field reduces the size of the professional purse. For this reason, the Tour does not offer memberships to amateur players.
Amateurs may compete in Tour events, but only on a space-available basis If you are an amateur, please go to the Entry Procedure page to find out how to enter Michigan Player's Tour events.

Returning Members
All members seeking to return the following year will be given first priority in securing membership. If a waiting list for new members is generated at any time during a season and remains into the next, the cutoff date for returning members to secure their spot for the following season will be midnight, March 31st. A membership spot will not be considered secure until a returning member has placed a 50% deposit on their membership fee.
As the Michigan Player’s Tour matures, it is likely all available membership positions will be filled at some point in time. Once this occurs, the Tour will operate according to the following procedures:
(1) Policy For the First Season Memberships Fill Up. During the course of a season, if the number of members in a Michigan Player’s Tour Division reaches 144 for the first time, a waiting list for new members will be created on a first come, first served basis. Players on this list will be given a number corresponding to the date and time they were entered on the list. If a membership position opens up during that season, the first eligible player on the waiting list will be extended an invitation to join. The player shall pay the corresponding membership fee (based on the date the membership is extended) in full prior to his or her first event.
Players on the waiting list will also be contacted should spots open up in individual events. If a member does not commit to a particular event, but retains his or her membership, the first eligible player on the waiting list available to play will be given the spot. The player will not be required to pay the membership fee, and will be extended the invitation for that event alone (unless the player wins the event see Exemptions below).
(2) Policy In Subsequent Years. If a waiting list for membership is generated during a season, the policy outlined above shall remain in effect for the rest of that season. If the waiting list remains into the new season after all returning members have secured their spots (March 31st cutoff date), and the number of players on the list exceeds the number of available membership spots after returning players have renewed their memberships, the Tour will create a qualifying tournament to determine the rest of the memberships. See Qualifying Tournament Procedures below .
Once the Tour has instituted a qualifying tournament at the beginning of a season, membership spots that open up during the season will be filled with players according to the following order of priority:
(i) Players who participated in the qualifying tournament. Players will be ranked according to score. See Qualifying Tournament Procedures for tie breaking procedure.
(ii) Eligible new applicants on a first come, first serve basis.
If a non-member on the waiting list gains entry into a tournament through the above procedures and subsequently wins the event, the player will be granted an exemption into all remaining events on the Tour for the remainder of the year. At the beginning of the next season, the exempt player will also receive equal priority in obtaining membership with returning members.
If the number of members plus exempt players exceeds 144 when an exemption is earned, the Tour will reduce the number of Monday qualifier spots open to non-members at each event by a corresponding number until the number of memberships returns to 144 through attrition.
Qualifying Tournament Procedures
Once the Tour determines a qualifying tournament will be instituted to fill in remaining membership positions, the tournament will be conducted as follows:
(1) Date of Qualifying Tournament. The qualifying tournament will be played approximately two weeks prior to the first event of the season.
(2) Format and entry fee. The tournament will be 54 holes, stroke play. There will be no cut, and no playoffs. The entry fee will be published on the Schedule page of the Tour web site once the event is scheduled.
(3) Number of Available Spots. The number of available spots will be determined at the close of renewals on April 1st.
(4) Determination of Qualifiers. Membership positions will be awarded to the low scorers in the event. In the case of ties for the final spot(s), they will be broken first by low final round score, then by low final nine, then by low final six, low final three, and by lowest score on the 18th hole.
(5) Ranking of Non-Qualifiers. Players failing to qualify will be assigned a rank or priority number based on their score in the tournament. Ties will be broken according to the criteria above. When a membership position opens during the course of the season, the player with the highest priority will receive the invitation to membership.
