Amateur Qualifying

Purpose

In the initial years of the Tour, eligible amateurs who desire to play in events on the Tour will be allowed to play on a space-available basis. If a tournament has less than 144 entries, amateurs who have paid the $25.00 deposit on the entry fee into an event will get in (see the Entry Procedure page.)

Once the number of members and non-member professionals who enter events begins to reach 144, however, and the number of amateurs desiring to play exceeds the number of spots available in an event, the Tour will institute its Amateur Qualifying policy.

The Tour will schedule an 18 hole qualifier prior to each multi-round Tour event, with a minimum of 4 spots available. The purpose of this qualifier is to create an outlet for the top players in the surrounding community to take their game to the next level. By doing so, the Tour hopes to motivate players to work harder on their games, play more, and become more involved in the competitive spirit of the game.

Format

Any amateur with a verifiable handicap of 10.0 or less is eligible to play in the amateur qualifier. The qualifier will be conducted on the Saturday prior to each multi-round Tour event. The entry fee will be the standard retail green fee of the course plus a nominal administrative fee.

A minimum of 4 amateurs will qualify for the Tour event. In the case of ties for the final spot(s), they will be broken first by low back nine score, then by low total of the final six holes, then by low total of the final three holes, and finally by lowest score on the 18th hole. All players will ride in carts.

As a motivation to participate in Amateur Qualifying, the first 4 qualifiers will not be charged an entry fee into the Tour event itself, and will receive a prominent write up in publicity generated for the event. If additional spots are available in an event and additional qualifiers are given a spot, they will receive a $50.00 credit on the entry fee of the event.

Once the Tour initiates Amateur Qualifying, please refer to this page to obtain dates of Amateur qualifiers in your area, event information, and tee times.
